Time to ROCK with "AXE HERO" 

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play guitar with this intensity and actually know what you are doing. What if I told you that you could learn how and a lot of fun doing it. Would you be intrigued if I threw martial arts into the mix? That's right martial arts. I bet I have your attention now, but you're probably asking yourself how can you possibly put learning how to play the guitar and martial arts together. We approach teaching the guitar like it is an actual martial art...

     Guitar Sensei Joe Freyre and the Eastport Music Scene would like to present to you "Axe Hero" ... If you feel you're ready strap on your 6 string razor, then come with us, step into the dojo and get ready to Kick Some Axe...

You're probably asking yourself....

     What is Axe Hero?

     Axe Hero Rocks. It's an innovative new music educaton program that your child (and teen) are gonna love. I'm sure you're familiar with the movie School of Rock and the games Rock Star and Guitar Hero. You've seen how excited they make your kids. Now let's throw the concept of martial arts (Karate) into the mix and you have Axe Hero.

     How do we do it?

     We make learning how to play the guitar fun, exciting and entertaining for your child. Our program uses a lot of the same concepts that you find in the way martial arts are taught. We've seen the incredible impact that the games Guitar Hero & Rock Star has had on your kids over the last couple of years. We use that level of inspiration and motivation in our program. Your kids are going to be having so much fun that they're not going to realize they are learning all the key priciples of music, as well as becoming very proficient on their instrument. It's the best of both worlds. Your kids have a blast and you get to see them actually learning music in a timely (metered) fashion.

     How does this work?

     This is a curriculum based program that we teach in 12 week sessions. It is group lessons that meet for one hour a week. At the end of the 12 week session each student is tested and certified to move up to the next level. They are given a white guitar strap at the beginning of the first session. This represents the white belt found in karate. When they move up they are issued a certificate of achievement and the next color guitar strap. 

     What will be the results?

     The results will vary. Each student will get out of it what they put into it. Some students will come in and do a few session have fun and move on. While others will stick with it, complete the program and become totally well rounded musicians. Musicians who will have a strong grasp of music theory, sight reading and be very comfortable with performance. They'll understand the nuts and bolts of their instrument and how to maintain it. Your child will be able to walk into any college and if they desire test in with no problem.
